Frequently Asked Questions

How are locations added to the map?
When you submit a report with a location pinpointed on the map, we store the coordinates and show a marker on the main Water Map for everyone to see.
Do I need an account to report an issue?
No, an account is not required. We aim for a barrier-free reporting process. You only provide basic contact information so we can follow up if needed.
What happens after I submit a report?
Your report is immediately added to our database and becomes visible on the public dashboard and map. This helps raise community awareness and provides data for local authorities and environmental groups to take action.
How is the data verified?
Our platform is based on crowdsourced citizen reports. While we don't verify each report individually, patterns of multiple reports in the same area help confirm persistent issues. We encourage users to provide accurate and honest information.
Can I edit or delete my report after submitting?
Currently, you cannot edit or delete a report after it has been submitted. This is to maintain the integrity of the dataset. Please double-check your information before submitting.
What counts as a “Safe Water Source”?
Reports tagged with the “Safe Source” issue type are counted under this category on the dashboard. This is typically used to identify community-verified clean water sources like wells or public taps.
Is my personal data shared?
No. We only show aggregated, anonymized statistics publicly on the dashboard. Your name and contact information are kept private and are only used if we need to contact you for clarification on your report.
